Thomas Burns biography

Originally from Aldergrove, Thomas is married to Thérèse and lives in Crumlin with their three young sons. Thomas has represented the people of South Antrim in the Assembly since he was first elected as an MLA in 2003 and again in 2007. He has also served on Antrim Borough Council since 1997. Thomas is committed to making both the Assembly and local Council work to deliver for you.
Thomas is currently deputy whip of the SDLP. As an MLA, he has served on committees for the Department of Social Development, the Department of Agriculture and Regional Development and the Public Accounts Committee. He currently sits on the Business Committee and the Committee for Culture, Arts and Leisure.
Thomas is an experienced MLA and Councillor, and is aware that a successful community requires investment in frontline services such as health, education and employment. He believes that it is important for every resident in South Antrim to show support at the ballot boxes for their SDLP South Antrim Team.
